Nashville’s Terry Presume is unapologetically himself in every song he releases. Blending indie, alternative, hip hop, and rock, he has been making music that is unique to him. He grew up surrounded by Haitian Kompa music from his mom, and the sounds of 50 Cent, Eminem and classic R&B that was heard throughout his community. His song, “ZaZa and Some Runtz (Smoke Break)” is in this week’s HOT SPOT.

Yellow Lines” by Tommy Newport is in the HotSpot!

Born in Manchester, England, Tommy Newport (Oliver Milmine) relocated to the United States with his family at six years old where he bounced around from Dallas to Seattle before settling down in Wichita, Kansas. Produced by Newport alongside his frequent collaborator 4th Pyramid (Black Eyed Peas, Wu-Tang Clan), the track has a brit rock essence in the way he sings.

Sneaks is Eva Moolchan, an American spoken word and post-punk musician from Washington, D. C. She used to be in a band called the Sh*tstains, which piqued our interest if we’re being honest. She has been releasing music as Sneaks since 2014. Simon is a  Scorpio, and this track seems very complimentary to having a relationship with a Scorpio….listen to “Scorpio on Your Side.”

Sneaks WHOOOSH!

Dope Lemon is an Australian artist, which kind of makes a lot of sense to us. Singer Angus Stone was one half of the musical sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone, with whom he has released four studio albums with but now he records under the name Dope Lemon and this is his song, “Rose Pink Cadillac.”

The Lazy Eyes are a four-piece psychedelic rock band based in Sydney, Australia. “Where’s my Brain???” is the first single taken from their forthcoming second EP, aptly named EP2.

We wrote ‘Where’s My Brain???’ in the developing years of the band, at a time when the setlist was lacking fast paced, energetic tracks. We needed that one last song that the audience could mosh and get sweaty to! The song is loosely about losing your mind over something and wanting to have a tantrum, but really it’s just a jam.

Haich Ber Nah is Harrison Bernard, a London based electronic provocateur with an avant-garde sound. The self-taught musician and producer has received buzz for his left field sound and constantly pushing sonic boundaries. … His sonic roots stem from rap and grime but his current sound is boundary-blurring Electronica. That’s why we love “0594 HELP.”

This week’s HOT SPOT belongs to Loshh and his song “Faji.”

Loshh is spired by Juju and Gospel sounds, Nigerian style, and London’s artistic sound. His EP, ÍFARADÁ, is about perseverance, a message to the most marginalized. The song”Faji” celebrates the innate power of Black women.

This week’s HOT SPOT artist is Glass Animals with their track “Heat Waves,” which reached #1 in Australia. The song is off the band’s third album, DREAMLAND.

Glass Animals are an English ‘psychedelic pop band’ formed in Oxford in 2010 led by singer, songwriter, and producer Dave Bayley. The title of this episode, “Swimming in a Mirror,” comes from this song.
